This vessel is made of Longhorn Red Clay with sand added to it. The vessel was made on a throwing wheel. A white slip was banded 4 times throughout this vessel. The body of the vessel was painted with a mesquite bean paint then fired.

Red Clay “Horizon and Sunflower Bottom I”

This ceramic piece was hand built with Longhorn Red Clay. Includes white slip and mesquite bean stain. It was fired in an open fire. This piece includes a ring like stand placed on bottom for showcasing and leather accents for decorative accents.
Organic Stain: Mesquite Bean Reduction

Harvested locally from West Texas. This (1bottle) 17.5 ml. mesquite bean stain for pottery will render a black color when added to red earthenware clay. If you add this organic stain to a white earthenware clay it will not render dark black. But, if you add it to a white clay slip that is over a red clay you will get a dark color.
